Once upon a time, since Vicenç Fonolleda, Antoni Huerta and Paco Puchol dicovered the optimal slope R/C flight conditions of the hills just over Barcelona (Collserola Hills), and after ten year of enjoying them flying and flying, they joined a group of friends and convinced them to become the most important and eventfull R/C Slope Flying Club in the area.
CVC (Club Velers Collserola/Collcerola Hills Slope Club), our Club, was incidentally formed in October 1984 by the above mentioned three founders and a group of friends. The Club was formally created back in January 1985 (28.01.1985) .
A few months later, the Club had a big success among the R/C Slope “lovers” in our area, and the number of members increased very quickly. Now adays, in 2006 our Club has 134 active members, beeing the biggest European R/C Slope Club.
Our main flying site is up in the North-Western hills of Barcelona, in the area called “Sierra de Collserola” (Collserola Hills).
The area is headed by the hill of Tibidabo (a latin name that means: “I will give it to you whatever you see from here…”).
Our slopes, therefore, are very close to the city. We can reach the site even by public transport or just walking (…provided your model is not so big …)
We are flying our models in the best scenario: just over the city of Barcelona with the sea in front of us!!!
The hills there alow us to fly from small begginner models to medium and even big beasts (we are flying even 5 m. ones… in good weather conditions). The limits are only fixed by the lift and the landing skills of our pilots.
The slope is so close to us thet in spring and summer we meet there very often: you can find us there every day in the evenings, during this seasons.
Regarding sportive events, we organize an average of eight to ten competitions every year, specifically dedicated to our members and specially to the younger ones.
Since the last two years Club Velers Collserola (CVC) is promoting special events for disable people in collaboration with other local institutions. |
